New CC8-SC condenser microphone by Austrian Audio
The CC8-SC uses the OCC7 true condenser capsule inspired by the legendary CK1 capsule. Small diaphragm microphones like the CC8-SC are often used as spot-microphones in ensembles or for other applications where a high degree of focus on the sound source is desired.
Based
on the foundation
of the CC8 microphone,
Austrian Audio
developed a new
pencil mic with a
very
well-developed
supercardioid
polar pattern. The
result is the
CC8-SC
which efficiently
blocks sound
coming from the
side.
The
OCC7 capsule with
true condenser
technology
combined with the
transformerless
circuitry delivers
a carefully
tailored frequency
response. The
microphone can
handle extremely
high sound
pressure levels
(up to 155 dB
SPL), which in
combination with a
low self-noise of
only 13 dB (A)
results in an
impressive dynamic
range. Fast
transients and
spatial
information are
captured in detail
and, above all,
without
distortion. The
CC8-SC always
sounds naturally
open and is
neither harsh nor
sharp, even at
extreme volumes.
Unwanted
resonances do not
occur, which means
that EQ can be
used for creative
sound shaping.

In
addition to its
outstanding sound
characteristics,
the CC8-SC has an
extremely robust
housing, with
helpful features
such as pad and
high-pass filter
switching
built-in.
